Last July we sold a hybrid NFT (canvas and digital art) of the iconic ‘Mouth & Tongue’ I painted for The Rolling Stones’ ‘Tumbling Dice’ record sleeve for $1.1 million at my home gallery, The Holle Fine Art Gallery. I was first introduced to NFTs when Jerad sparked the fire to launch the first NFT gallery in Hawaii with my ‘Mouth & Tongue’ derivative artwork.

I’m thankful for Jerad Finck (aka BLAZAR) and the Cosmic Wire team who are inspired to tell my story and support my fight against cancer. I kicked it when it attacked my bladder and then when it attacked my brain. I’m a warrior and I am not going to lose I have many more paintings to do before it’s time for me to check out.

Today, I am undergoing aggressive treatment for throat cancer. Maybe the secret was meditating on the beach, continuing to paint and making donuts!

In 2020 I was diagnosed with brain cancer and doctors told me I had six months to live, but was later told that the tumor had subsided and was no longer life-threatening. Throughout the years I have painted over 3000 record sleeves for artists such as The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Jimmy Buffett, and Van Morrison, as well as the soundtrack art for Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory. Over the past 50 plus years I have been painting album covers and celebrity self-portraits, initially getting my start in the music industry as Art Director at Paramount Records and managing Billy Joel’s original project that led to his big break. I currently reside on Maui where I paint until dawn and spend my mornings on the beach with my loved ones, usually my two dogs. We recently published an article on Ruby Mazur’s NFT launch of 5,050 AI-generated NFTs based on his iconic painting, “ Mouth and Tongue”, that was used for “Tumble Dice”, The Rolling Stones 1971 album.
